The Role
The Head of SEO shapes the strategic direction and growth of Kaizen’s SEO/GEO practice, combining visionary leadership with hands-on execution across traditional search and emerging channels in the Search-Verse, including AI discoverability and community driven channels. The Head of SEO is also responsible for driving operational excellence, team development, and client retention across our SEO practice.
As Kaizen’s leading SEO/GEO authority, you’ll develop award winning strategies for key accounts, drive thought leadership, lead new business efforts, and elevate the team through mentorship and innovation.
This role calls for a visionary who can execute strategic thinking, someone passionate about redefining the boundaries of discoverability and creating a world class offering. We’re looking for someone who can balance hands-on leadership, delivery quality, team growth and commercial success.
Core Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Define and drive the agency’s SEO/GEO vision, aligning it with evolving trends across the Search-Verse and ensuring it is understood by clients, prospects and the team.
- Lead thought leadership initiatives that establish Kaizen’s point of view on topics including AI Search, community signals and the future of discoverability.
- Define and evolve the SEO/GEO practice roadmap, identifying service gaps and driving innovation, taking new products to market and ensuring our offering remains market-leading
Client Strategy & Delivery
- Oversee strategic direction for Tier 1 clients, acting as a trusted advisor and ensuring initiatives align with broader business objectives
- Create award-winning, full-funnel SEO/GEO strategies that consider technical foundations, content, AI ecosystems, community signals, UGC, and reputation factors
- Oversee client health and growth, ensuring consistent delivery excellence and long-term retention
- Lead strategic storytelling at QBRs and strategy sessions, translating performance into compelling narratives
- QA major strategic plans, audits, and deliverables to ensure technical accuracy, strategic rigor, and presentation quality
- Evangelise the usage of AI automation tools across the business to speed-up workflows, increase output and quality of work
New Business & Growth
- Build strategic approaches for pitch decks and lead the presentation of these
- Identify cross-channel expansion opportunities and collaborate with the CSD to develop winning proposals
Team Development, Culture & Operational Excellence
- Champion a learning culture centered on testing and innovation
- Identify and implement cutting-edge tools and tactics that elevate client results
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and continuous professional development of SEO talent
- Balance profitability, quality, and innovation across the SEO team
- Oversee departmental budgets, utilisation and profitability
Industry Leadership
- Build Kaizen’s and your personal brand by representing the agency as an authority on AI Search and organic strategy evolution when speaking at conferences, creating content including case studies and 3rd party publications and hosting webinars / client events.
Key attributes
- Proven success designing and implementing SEO/GEO strategies for large/global brands.
- Creativity in problem-solving
- Visionary with the ability to ideate and create execution plans
- Basic knowledge or interest in learning programming languages such as Python, Regex or Apps Script
